RE: SPAM software recommendations ~Fred Opfoomanjip 3.Dec.03 04:34 AM a Web browser Domino Server 6.0.1Windows 2000
We've been testing out SpamSentinetl for the past month. You can download a 30 day trial from their website (www.maysoft.com). It runs as a Domino task and works very similar to the DNS blacklist, but glorified. All 'blocked' messages are actually put into a quarantine database in case a mistake was made. It only ends up blocking about 95% of the spam we get, but that turns out to be quite a bit. We're actually going to go ahead and purchase it--it's blocked over 800 messages from getting to me in the past 3 weeks. I have a coworker who has had over 1500 blocked in the same time.
It's priced out on a per user basis and at the 100 user mark it runs $30 a seat--I think that's a yearly subscription fee, so the downside is that you'll have to continue to pay over time to get support, upgrades, and be able to submit new spam messages to their database.
For us, it does the trick. I don't have to do any work to support it and the users don't have to learn to configure anything to use it.
